With the World Cup taking place in November, fixtures are highly unlikely to be rearranged before the end of the year as the top flight restarts on Boxing Day after the tournament.

Richard Buxtona journalist who covers the Premier League, reports that the next available dates for any postponed matches are January 17e and January 18e.

This is a mid-week slot, with matches scheduled for the Saturday and Sunday before, and the Saturday and Sunday after.

For Spurs, for example, they have to play against Arsenal at home on the 14th.eand would then face Manchester City in midweek.

Buxton also clarifies that Premier League games will likely be suspended next weekend as well, as the Queen’s state funeral will take place.

This means that there will probably have to be a reorganized second round of meetings, with the main meeting being chelseaclashes with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

It raises the prospect of the Premier League potentially being extended for an extra week to ensure 38 games can be played before the start of the 2023/24 season.

As things stand, the next Premier League match could be the North London Derby on October 1stwhich is an early kickoff.
