The highly anticipated Commonwealth Games 2022, is ready to start. A a total of 215 Indian athletes will mark their attendance from July 28, 2022. This 12-day event will end on August 8, 2022 in Birmingham, England. Indian athletes seem confident for this mega tournament. In most editions of the Commonwealth Games, India has managed to place in the top 10 places in the medal table. This time too, the Indian athletes will try to score a dominating presence in the games.

Neeraj Chopra is in great shape and has shown outstanding performances on the international stage since the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. After the Olympic victory, Neeraj has become popular in the global sports industry. He fought against all odds and won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is popularly referred to as the Golden Boy of India. The javelin star won a gold medal at the last edition of the tournament in Australia’s Gold Coast and we don’t think he will stop until he secures the podium at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Recently at the Paavo Nurmi Games, he showed his immense power and rewrote the national record with a throw of 89.30 meters when he returned to the track after 44 weeks of the Tokyo Olympics. He will still roar in Birmingham and aims to cross the 90m mark.

Weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won two Commonwealth Games medals. First of all, the silver medal was won at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and a superb gold medal at the Gold Coast Games in 2018. She is looking forward to continuing her best performances in the next edition of this competition.

At the Tokyo Olympics held recently, Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the women’s weightlifting category of 49 kg. She became the first Indian athlete to win a silver medal at the Olympics in weightlifting. She will be among India’s top athletes as she has a strong chance of winning a medal at the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022, Birmingham.

Famous Indian commuter and currently world number 7, PV Sindhu is considered India’s most successful sportsman. She is the second Indian individual athlete to win back-to-back medals at the Olympics. She beat China’s He Bing Jiao to win the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Recently, she won the Swish Open title beating Busanan Ongbamrungphan from Thailand and at the Syed Modi International Tournament she beat Malvika Bansod.

The road fou Sindhu hasn’t been smooth so far, but that hasn’t deterred her as she has continuously competed in the many tournaments after the Tokyo Olympics. At the 2022 Asian Badminton Championship, she got bronze after facing loss to Akane Yamaguchi. She is ready to bring another medal for India this time. But she recently pulled out of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 event. She made a surprise exit in the first round of the tournament after suffering a straight loss to China’s He Bing.

Lovlina Borgohain hit her way make history by winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in boxing. It will use the Commonwealth platform and continue its strong performance.

The Indian boxer has yet to manage to bring back a medal in the tournament, after crashing out at the start of the last edition in Gold Coast. She lost to Sandy Ryan of the UK in the quarters.

However, Lovlina’s performance at the Tokyo Olympics boosted her confidence. She has established herself as a major medal contender at the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Indian star wrestler Ravi Dahiya won a well-deserved silver medal in the men’s 57kg freestyle category at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. He then qualified for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham by winning his match during the national selections organized in New Delhi. The 35th Asian Wrestling Championships 2022 was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia where he won gold in his category. This will surely push him to do much better at Birmingham.

Ravi Dahiya is aiming for a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is a triple Asian champion. Consecutively, he has won Asian championship gold medals since 2020. He has produced superb Asian championship gold performances- 2020 in New Delhi, 2021 in Almaty and 2022 in Ulaanbaatar and proved to be the potential to shine as a big name in wrestling. His maximum throughput in the later matches will help him defeat all the other wrestlers to secure him a top spot.
