The Mets had their first ever big day of baseball yesterday! Too bad they have already clinched a loss record for the season. However, there were high and personal points for the players.

Yesterday, the Mets beat the Marlins twice, wiping out the doubles program. The real title for the Mets was Noah syndergaard took the mound for the first time since the end of the 2019 season and he looked good – he recorded two strikeouts and got a pitch. Plus, in Game 1, Lindor hit his 19th home run of the season, giving him a good chance of finishing the season around 20.

Taijuan Walker starts today and looks to end his season on a high note. Over 29 games and 151.2 innings, Walker has a 4.57 ERA, 4.64 FIP, 1.207 WHIP, and 87 ERA +. He’s coming off a bad start against the Red Sox where he allowed six runs on six hits in 2.0 innings. In total, in September, he allowed 19 runs on 21 hits in 17.1 innings – including eight homers. He also hasn’t been the best against the Marlins this year, allowing nine runs in 16.1 innings over three games. The Marlins have the following numbers against him:

Hernández, like Walker, is also having a rough start. In his last outing, he allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in 4.0 innings. In September, he allowed 12 runs, 11 earned, in 19.1 innings (5.12 ERA). His second start of the season came against the Mets in April, where he limited the Mets to one run in 5.0 innings, scattering five hits. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

Ahead of the game, the Mets placed wide receiver Tomas Nido on the 10-day IL for a sprained left thumb, ending his 2021 season. Patrick Mazeika has been recalled from Triple-A. Nido has appeared in 58 games this season, throwing 57% of runners attempting to steal.
