Huskies Up Next for Eagles


CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women’s soccer team will close its three home games Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. game against the UConn Huskies at Newton Campus Soccer Field.

• Move Boston College to 4-0-0 that year.
• Bring the Eagles to 7-27-2 in the all-time series with UConn and 3-1-1 in the last five meetings.
• Giving British Columbia a 3-0-0 start at home for the third time in the past five seasons (2019 and 2018).


• UConn has played two games so far, earning two 2-1 wins at Storrs over Central Connecticut State and La Salle.
• Jada Konte scored two goals for UConn to lead the way with four points … Duda Santin and Abbey Jones each scored once … Kaitlyn Mahoney played 75 percent of the team’s minutes in goal, 1 -0 -0 with a save percentage of 0.875 and a goals against average of 0.67.
• The Huskies were placed third in the All-BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll.
• Jessica Mazo, a junior, has been named to the All-BIG EAST preseason squad …
• UConn finished their Spring 2021 roster with an 8-3-1 record scoring 6-2-1 in the BIG EAST game.


• Boston College is 6-27-2 in the all-time series with UConn … three of BC’s wins in the series have come in the last seven games.
• This is the first meeting between the two teams in eight years … British Columbia and UConn last met on August 28, 2013, with the Eagles losing 1-0 to Newton.
• Three of BC’s six series wins have come in the last seven games.
• Three of the last five games have been extended while the last six games have been decided by a goal or less.


Linda boama scored in each of the first three games of the season … this is the first three-goal streak for the Eagles since Olivia Vaughn in the 2019 season (Sept.15-Sept.26) … she is the first Eagle has scored in the first three games of the season since Victoria DiMartino scored in the first four games of the 2009 season.
• British Columbia has five different goal scorers and 10 different point scorers in the first three games of the season.
Wiebke Willebrandt earned her first career victory and a shutout in her first career start with four saves at Iona on August 19 … the last Eagles goaltender to do the same was Erin Seppi with three saves against Stony Brook on August 25, 2016.


• Boston College dominated Boston University Thursday night in Newton, winning the Battle of Comm Avenue with a score of 3-1.
Samantha Agresti opened the scoring in the 24th minute then Linda boama finished in the 29th minute for the eventual winner of the match … Jenna bike added an insurance goal early in the second half.
Wiebke Willebrandt finished with four saves to move to 3-0-0 that year.


• In the first three games of the 2021 season, several Eagles registered firsts.
• When the season opens in Iona on August 19, Linda boama scored twice, scoring the first and second goals of his career with the brace … also in this game, Ella Richards scored his first career goal in Jessica carlton and Taliyah walker collected his first points with assists.
Wiebke Willebrandt made his first career start at Iona and got his first career shutout with four saves.
• Graduate students Haley thomas and Abby mcnamara made their BC debut in Iona.
• Thomas recorded his first assist as an Eagle in a win against BU on August 26th.
• Éabha O’Mahony, Andi Barth, Richards, Sarai Costello, Carlton, and Walker all made their college debuts at Iona.


• Boston College opened the 2021 season with a 5-0 victory at Iona on Thursday.
Linda boama scored twice for British Columbia, scoring the first and second goals of his career with the brace … Ella Richards and Sam smith also found the back of the net as the team were credited with a team goal over a defenseman from Iona.
Wiebke Willebrandt made four saves in his first college appearance for his first career shutout.
• In addition to Willebrandt, Éabha O’Mahony also made her first college debuts and appearances while Andi Barth, Ella Richards, Sarai Costello, Jessica carlton and Taliyah walker all made their college debuts off the bench.
• Graduate students Haley thomas and Abby mcnamara made their debut in British Columbia.


• The Eagles are led by Jenna bike, Mia Karras and Michela Agresti in 2021.
• This is the second year in a row that Bike and Karras have been captains of the Eagles while Agresti is captain for the first time.
• In 2021, Bike started all 14 games for the Eagles upon returning to the pitch from an injury… the graduate student finished second on the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
• Karras, a graduate student, played and started all 14 BC competitions last season.
• Agresti started all 32 games BC played in her first two seasons in the Heights… the defender played at least 90 minutes in 31 of 32 games.
